  • Microphone Permission: Used to record videos with sound and capture audio during calls or in chat rooms. You may deny this permission. However, some or all features that require microphone audio may not work.
  • Photo Library Permission: Used to upload images to Dotty, send images to friends through messaging, and update profile photos, group photos, and similar content. You may deny this permission, but some features will be unavailable.
  • Contacts Permission: Used to find people in your contacts who use Dotty, helping you connect with friends more quickly. You may deny this permission, but some features may not work as expected.
  • Location Permission: Used for certain features, including security alerts about the address and coordinates of a login from a new device and finding nearby friends based on location. You may deny this permission, but features that require location data will be unavailable.
  • Activity Tracking Permission (if applicable): Commonly available on iOS, this permission allows activity tracking so that we can optimize the display of third-party advertising. You may deny this permission if you prefer.

3.3. How We Process Your Data

  • Image and Video Data: Your image data is shared with people who use our Services. Some features are public by default, while others allow you to choose who can view the content.
  • Microphone Data: Used in conversations, video recordings, and similar features. We do not collect or store this type of data on our servers; it is rendered and transmitted only to people within the relevant activity who can listen when the data is generated.
  • Contacts Data: Used to suggest friends and connect users with their friends. We do not publicly display phone numbers or share phone numbers with any third party.
  • Coordinate Data: Used for alerts, recording login areas, or features that require coordinates. We safeguard coordinate data and do not share it with third parties.

  • Service Providers: Hosting services, including image and video storage, whose providers are required to secure those resources; and analytics services, including crash data and device information collected when an error occurs.

User Content

Content you share, including audio, videos, and images, may be visible to all users of our Services if you choose public visibility, or only to the audiences within the scope you select.

  • User Content: Retained until it is deleted.

After an account or related content is deleted, we do not immediately erase the data. Instead, we hide it and block access for a minimum of five years before permanently removing it from our systems. This retention allows the data to be retrieved if required by law or by competent authorities in the relevant jurisdictions.
